i've looked all over the forums and i find alot of topics about the s950 and scsi connections but i cant find anything about how exactly to make it work with an external card reader. can anyone guide me through it?

probably best to use 100mb cards with it...i think the max disk size it recognizes is 60mb
should work the same was external disk....youll have to format it from the akai before being able to use it

does you scsi device have a little switch at the back....to select scsi id? maybe 5 or 6?
you may need to have this setting on your s950 too...will be on one of the disk menu options

once they are matched, then turn off your s950.....when it boots it should recordnise the disk as unformatted, then you go to format hard disk option under disk menu too

once you format it, you can save samples to it

normally you boot the scsi drive first, then the s950....otherwise the s950 wont see the device

^^^OK. so that means there are two different storage options here? do you think one you is better -- cheaper/more reliable/easier to set up?

none of my zip drives have worked for a decade or so. my floppy drive will die one day. i should probably sort out a card reader now rather than waiting for the floppy to die.
