Thought this might be of help to some SP owners whose units are noisy-.

My SP 1200 was noisy as heck on almost all its outputs, so I replaced the output capacitors. They're styroflex capacitors, 160V 4700pF. Now there's absolutely NO noise anywhere, not even on the mix out. Quiet as it gets.
Truth be told, did it the "easy"/safe way and only cut the legs (instead of taking the motherboard out and going the desoldering route) and soldered the new caps' legs onto the old ones. They look a bit funny as I left some legs way too long. Well, you do and you learn.
I don't enjoy doing these things – especially gear with this old – but it teaches you a bit about the devices, and you definitely develop a more personal relationship with them as you show them a bit of love.
This was pretty easy to do; all you gotta do is be able to solder.
