Hi all, this is my first post here and warning: possible "duh" questions ahead.
I intend to get a vintage Akai rack sampler, one of S2800/S2800i/S3000/S3200. Until now I have only been considering units that have either a USB floppy emulator drive installed, or a so-called SCSItoSD or ZuluSCSI because I do not want to work with floppy disks. However, I read that floppy emulators pose issues when working with samples larger than 1.44MB since they are emulating floppies. So in truth I am only considering SCSItoSC and ZuluSCSI interfaces, which are very expensive and even more so with shipping.
But now it's dawning on me that I could load my samples into the sampler through the analog inputs and bypass the need for these expensive SCSI interfaces. I'd like your opinions on whether this is a good strategy or not, since I have never worked with these oldschool samplers. Will it become too tedious having to trim and name each sample?
And most importantly, would not using any floppies, floppy emulators, or SCSI interfaces prevent me from saving my work?
Thank you in advance
