The cost of the MPCX is almost as much as the introductory retail price of the MPC5000, and we know how that turned out.

I really want to be excited about the X, but with everything Akai has come out with in the last ten years, after my initial interest has worn off, I've thought to myself--"I'm sure glad I didn't end up buying that." Will this really be any different? I'm willing to look at it with an open mind, but at this point it only makes sense to keep my expectations really, really low.

I'm curious to see how well it works with drawing MIDI control change automation (something Maschine is still inexplicably terrible with), and scales/chord progressions/arps/other composition tools. I'll admit I'll be watching this closely!

I wonder why the required specs for OSX differ between the X and Live? :hmmm:

Considering that VCT effects are out of the picture (and that a Wifi mode is a thing), I can only hope there's some kind of store for officially supported effects. We need some serious mangling options.

According to the press desk on Gearslutz...

"MPC X will ship with an MSRP of £1499.99 and will be available Q1 2017."

I was thinking it might be 2 grand + so that's more doable. :smoker:

i didn't see any compatibility specs, if it could read the mpc60 or 2kxl sequence and program files it would be perfect.
