Very interesting..
Seeing that Radaxa CPU board as the centre of the system I wonder if it is possible to upgrade to the Radaxa Rock 2 som-B board?...
http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock2/som
This would increase the total RAM to 4Gb
Hmmm...

lazy akai.
If they had developed an own board we could have had RAM extension and SPDIF.

Do you have any idea the R&D cost to develop a board of that complexity?..

i guess half of the features they dont need.
In the past they could do that some of the S Series samplers had an x86 CPU, but the board
was developed by akai. Also why not use real DSP?

Also, that version comes with 32GB of flash storage. Looks to be a like for like fit. Seems someone else is going to try and do this upgrade.

*** Does anyone know what the AD/DA manufacturer/model is? I looked thru the images but I didn't see anything familiar, like Burr Brown, ESS Sabre, Cirrus Logic, etc.

thats what i mean, the SOM does everything, no DSP AD/DA or so.
