Pete Rock - Play dis only at night

If you listen to the instrumental you can here some synths sampled from Dexter Wansel - Theme From The Planets. You can just hear the synth without all the percussion from the original source. I wonder how could this be achieved? Can't imagine it could be done by eqing.

The sample appears around 1:50 by the way. I tried to extract it with phase inversion as you can hear just the drumming part in the beginning of the song. No way! He must have had different versions of the songs he sampled, not the ones on youtube. Way too sick how he flipped the minnie ripperton joint in it as well! I wonder about the creative part Jamey Staub has contributed. I think he hasn't worked on Pete's newer stuff as it sounds like garbage compared to classic Pete Rock.
