How do you sample from midi? Can you provide detail on how this is done?

For anybody still battling old samplers with limited memory, i got a few older tips.

Sample your breaks at 45rpm (on your turntable). This will give you a shorter sample to save some memory. Then pitch it back on your sampler untill it sounds normal again. It also changes the sound of your sample quite a bit, so you may want to try it even if you've got enough memory available.

Drop the sample-rate on a sample to 33kHz or lower. A lot of sounds, like bassdrums, don't contain any high frequencies at all so you can get away with quite a lot without changing the sound at all.
If you have a wave-editor with a freq. analysis function (i.e. Wavelab) you can visually see how low you can go without changing the sound.
Or you can use your ears, and change the rate untill it starts degrading.
