It is a known fact that every rapper who's ever used marijuana has made a song about it. So when it came time to make mine, I figured, what better way than to remake one of my favorite rapper's greatest hits from the 80's? I challenged myself to recreate the instrumental from Kool Moe Dee's version- note for note, bar for bar on my MPC60 using the closest matching samples I had. It was easily one of the most diffucult beats I've ever made. I've never had to use so many different swing settings in one track, and there were many subtleties in the original that were barely audible and difficult to distinguish. Teddy Riley is a genius.
I also added a few scratch hooks because there were so many instrumental breaks to play with.
