pad sensitivity works on my solution better than the original. full level is easy to obtain, just tape tin foil to the underside of the pad. in a pinch, that definitely works and is 100 percent predictable, but we can definitely do better (i already have. velostat, son) i'm finalising the design now.

it'll be between 15 and 25 bucks, but i'm not positive on that yet. it's gonna be cheaper to get it from me than to order/buy alll the materials and assemble it yourself.

right now i'm working on curing my own sheet of rubber pads.

there will be three options, the DIY velostat fix, cheapest but lots of manual labor and you end up w/ the same style pads (just they won't break)

the DIY rubber sheet solution, 2nd easiest, 2nd cheapest. replaces the pads with a sheet of durable rubbber, makes your mpc like a skinned drum rather than raised rubber pads. this is just a little more expensive than the first fix, but interesting for some application. also, it can be seen as a segue inbetween the former and the next step...

the DIY pad solution, just as easy as the last one, replaces the entire pad structure keepign only the sensors. this one gives you a brand new sheet of all 16 pads (or 4 sheets of 4 pads each, depending on how this rubber curing goes. this one is probably gonna be the best for your money/time.

the last one is the only non-DIY. you could either ship me your mpc or bring it to me here in virginia. i perform all the surgery/any other necessary repairs. i also might offer some kind of goofy custom rubber (colors, imprinted lettering, w/e)

fix 1 and 2 are almost ready. 3 and 4 are waiting on my creation of a rubber mold with which to make these pads.

right now, I'm about to re-glue 4 pads back to the original way they were.
glueing the carbon to the underside of the pad (as you originally done) gave me no repsonse unless i put all my weight into them.
so it's back to square one until your new design is ready to test.

i really hope your new design holds up.
if not, it may be time to cut my losses, order new pads from vst (since akai don't care about us) and sell the 1k.

there's no way in hell that i'm gonna buy an mpc2500 (too many bugs that should've been fixed already), the 500 (it's crashing on people already... http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=64801), or any new mpc coming out that's gonna give everyone more problems. it aint worth it.

Not True, the instructions for using 16 levels are on the back of the MPD.
