these are all fresh out of the mold, too - as they play, the surface of the pad smooths out and becomes more "matte" instead of glossy, the way it is in the pics.

man, they're great. i cast them with a "special ingredient" in them - hilariously simple, but it makes for excellent velocity response

i use a piece of stiff plastic with some packing foam adhered to the other side. the stiff plastic is the part that hits the sensors, guaranteeing corner hits. the foam provides a little added "bounce" in between the fingertip and the sensor.

i had to include these pieces actually IN the mold because otherwise, the rubber has too much "give" to cause corner hits. it just kind of mushes rather than making the contact.

yall will notice how different the black looks from the white though. darker colors tend to show imperfections a little more harshly. but remember, after a week or so of playing on them, they become matte. the flaws will be invisible. however, as usual, my slogan is "performance over aesthetics." regardless, i am pleased with the way these look.

which is the ugly, the dark black?

i'd say the black is the "ugliest" but only straight out of the mold. once it gets played with/roughhoused a bit, it'll mellow out and look more normal.

simply amazing......please forgive my ignorance Ant....but do they come in a "sheet" like the ones on the 2000....if so....that is friggin awesome!!

yup! one solid sheet, just like EVERY OTHER MPC besides our unlucky little latchkey kid. the sheet measures out perfectly beneath the frame above the sensors. it rests on the frame over some thin spacers to prevent ghost notes and i have constructed rubber frame-extenders so that there's added support.

VERY good results using this design. corner hits all work at about half velocity. delicate triggers do the damn thing and work well. using the pad sensitivity setting, you have even more control over individual pads. i couldn't be happier.

Deffinately, I'd pay to have the reliability of all of the other models on the 1000.

would love to order some nym, but without seeing a video of installation, and then the pads themselves in action, i'm kind of reluctant to part with my hard earned. not an electronics guy and don't like to mess with my MPC too much.

any ideas if you could sort us with a vid?

at 4 o clock today i will be doing the installation video, and then this weekend i will have a performance video of me using the pads. this will come with a couple JJ os tutorial videos.

I really like the new design Antonym, the pad installation appears easy at a cursory glance. noice one bruva~!
