Description

Download this free MPC expansion featuring a fully multisampled acoustic upright bass (double bass) mapped to MPC programs by MPC-Tutor and the Pad Pimps team!

The Reaper is a multisampled acoustic upright bass instrument which can be used to create gritty, realistic sounding double bass performances in your MPC - perfect for filthy jazz-inspired hip hop bass lines.

The instrument features over 80 samples recorded directly from a 1958 Otto Rubner acoustic double bass, all mapped to MPC instrument programs to provide out-of-the-box playback in most MPC models (including the Akai Force), with 'round robins' for modern MPCs, sampled string and finger noises and incredibly low memory-usage (only 29MB for the modern standalone MPC version and 18MB for legacy MPCs).

The MPC Expansion also features 10 'break and bass' themes which consist of a sequence containing a matching bass line and drum break; all bass lines are also included as separate MIDI pattern files and all drum breaks are 'patch phrased' to auto-match any sequence tempo.

The Reaper is compatible with all modern MPCs including the MPC One, MPC X, MPC Live (I & II), plus the Akai Force. It's also 100% compatible with the MPC Software and MPC Beats as well as all supported controllers (including the MPC Touch & MPC Renaissance/Studio). It also supports the following legacy MPCs; MPC1000/2500/500/5000/4000 and JJOS. Full installation instructions can be found in the 21 page user guide.

Best of all, The Reaper is a completely FREE download! Simply add it to your cart and check out as normal (no charge and no payment details needed) - you'll receive your download link direct to your inbox!

Product FAQs

Does this work in standalone MPCs and the Akai Force?

Yes, it's 100% compatible with the MPC X, MPC Live, MPC One and Akai Force and features memory-optimsed programs made with standalone use in mind. We've included a dedicated 'standalone' installer for easy drag-and-drop installation to your standalone MPC disk (plus an XPN file for optional MPC Software installation).

Does this work with the MPC-Software & MPC Beats?

Yes! In addition to the 'standalone MPC' installer we also provide a dedicated expansion installer for the MPC Software and MPC Beats; just drag and drop directly into the software. Full installation instructions are included with the expansion.

Does this expansion work with the Akai Force?

Yes, all our MPC Expansions can also be installed in the Akai Force. Simply use the supplied 'standalone' installer and drag and drop this to the 'Expansions' folder on your Akai Force disk. The supplied User Guide contains full installation instructions.

What is a round robin?

To mimic the subtle changes in timbre you can hear each time you play a note on an acoustic instrument, we record multiple 'takes' for each note and set up the MPC program to play back one of these samples randomly each time you play that particular note. This is referred to as a 'round robin'.

Can I play these instruments with a MIDI control keyboard?

Yes, just hook up your keyboard to your MPC (via USB, MIDI cable etc) and you can immediately play the instruments with the keyboard. Set up instructions are provided in the User Guide.

I can’t play keyboard, can I still use these instruments?

Yes! You can play the instruments directly with your pads and they also fully support PAD PERFORM mode which maps pre-built chords and scales across your pads.
