i think i burned my 8-out expansion... HELP ?!?!

****... i just recieved my 8-out expansion for my 2000xl, i installed it like the video on youtube said (aswell as how the manual said) then i turned my mpc on and there was the "wait" screen on and it didnt go away... i then openned the whole shit again and put the 8-out cord better to the motherboard, i turned the **** mpc on and there was smoke comming out of he mpc... i paniced... i know i did everything like the manual said...


WAHT THE **** IS GOING ON ?! did i just **** ruin the 8-out card ive been working for crazy the last 2 months ?!?!
what the **** should i do now ? warranty ?

oooh shit,warranty won`t work if you installed it yourself...

you obviously didnt do every thing the manual said....... sounds like a grounding problem.

Yup sounds like you either grounded wrong or something that was in your machine got moved around and caused some damage maybe.

if you're lucky its just a fuse, open er up and check in the power supply circuit for a fuse with all black stuff inside, if so its needs to be replaced. However even if the fuse went you still might have messed up something else in there...

i turned on my mpc today, like yesterday... mpc starts fine but i get no sound out of the stereo outs or from the phones out...

so i lost my mpc today, i feel **** great ! aint this fun

Open up your MPC and check your resistor R1 to see if it's burnt. I had to send mine to VST to get it fixed. They got my MPC working but I was the one that did all the troubleshooting for them and sent it a letter all in detail what I found to be the problem and still had to paid them almost $200 to fix it per the instructions I gave them.

^thank you my man, i got it fixed, i was going to buy a new mpc 2000xl but i thought that you really might be onto something with the fried resistor thing and then someone replied back to me (in another messageboard ) that he had the same problems with the mp and he told me he had replaced the r1 resistor and after that the mpc worked like it used to, i got my mpc back rom the shop today and it works wonders ! i recieved a new 8-out card via mail a week ago too and i installed it today, this new one didnt fry haha

There was a guy named Steve/Steven out in Cambridgeshire/Suffolk area a couple of years ago that diagnosed and repaired Akai products. My friend took his 120VAC MPC-60 to him and he cleaned it up and fixed the pad sensors on it for cheap. I think we gave him a case of American Budweiser and 20 quid.
But sorry, I don't remember his number.
