Speeding up or slowing down a sample on a Mpc 2000????

If anyone can assist me.... I wanted to know how could I be able to take a sample that is programmed within a specific BPM on the MPC 2000 and still be able to slow down or speed up the tempo without keeping the sample from being off track within the original BPM after I speed up or slow down the tempo. I saw Pete Rock on YouTube playing beat and was able to speed up or slow down the tempo of the track without the sample within the beat being out of sequence. I have a 2000 but I peeped he had a 2000XL. I know both of the machines are basically the same and the XL has a few more special features. However, I was just wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about within the question I'm inquiring about and could you assist me.

The 2000xl has time stretching so you can adjust the tempo of a sample without sacrificing the pitch. However, the 2000 classic does not have this feature. To adjust the speed of a sample in the 2k classic you need to do it in the params window with the pitch level.

PR simply chopped the sample in the video and if you listen closely you will hear that not everything stay in its place when he speed up the tempo.
