Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

whats up mpc masters, i just joined up and have learned so much already from this site, so thanks! well i searched and searched for this but i couldnt find what i needed, so here it goes.

i have an MPC2k. a buddy of mine gave me a zip of programs and sounds from his mpc. i loaded up some programs, and played with them for a while, but i want to make my own programs out of these sounds. but when i try to load more, i get a screen that says, memory full. so i saved some of these sounds and programs to another zip disk, using "save all programs and sounds".

so then im wondering how to clear the memory or reset it so i can load more sounds up?

also, is there a way i can save all the sounds and/or programs from my zip to another zip, or is that pointless?

and finally, how do i save all the sounds, so that i can create my own programs?

i saved some, but i cant figure out how to save all the sounds, so then i can create my own programs. i tryed loading them but then memorys full. do i have to load a couple programs at a time and then save to another zip?
he also has the drums by category, if that would make anything easier on me?
im sittin here with my manual and this site but i cant figure it out.
sorry if this post is long, and i hope its understandable (my questions). thanks in advance for any assistance.

I used to have a 2000XL which is pretty similar to the 2000.

I used to work with two zip drives. One for the MPC and one connected to my computer.

I used the computer to create my programs, then quickly transferred the the zip disk to the MPC.

There are some freeware programs designed for creating MPC programs on Macs and PC's, the one I used to use on my PC is called MPC Editor and can be found here...

You should also find lots of other useful MPC2000 information on this great site.

I've moved this thread to the 2000 forum so those HELPFUL people can assist with your other questions.

Welcome to the forums.

Saving all the sounds and programs from a zip onto another zip is pointless, yes. To make your own programs using the sound(.snd) files your friend gave you, load the sounds you want to use and program them to pads, then in disk screen save a .pgm or .aps to your other zip. Save with sounds so the sounds get saved too.
