when i had tried to hack away at it back in 99 i noticed at the snd names are store as ascii text and i had written a perl program with an html interface that worked basically like the mpc editor does. you typed in the name of the sound on a text area (one for each pad) and it opened it up and did a search and replace and saved off the pgm. i never did much more than that with it. with no way to preview the sounds or anything like that it wasnt very useful. the guy that made mpc editor www.midicase.com probably knows alot more about it, considering what his software does.
