MIDI Misunderstanding

I have read the MIDI tutorial on this site and others, and I am still a little confused. I know now that midi is just note information, and not actually a sound. But say i have a sound on my mpc... Lets say a bass sound that i want to use with midi. I want to take this sound, and add all those key bit of midi information. Now how do i do it? I have tried taking this sound, and messing with it on my keyboard, and hoping that it will just come to me as im messing with it for hours at a time, but that hasnt happened yet. Im willing to read any tutorial that somone can suggest. If anyone can help me in any way, please do so. I just want to understand midi... Peace. -=ROMAN=-

GET THE MIDI MANUEL. I FORGOT THE WRITERS NAME BUT IT'S THE SAME BOOK THEY USE AT MOST TECH SCHOOLS TO LEARN MIDI. GO TO BN.COM OR AMAZON BOOKS. ALSO TRY GOING TO KORG'S WEBSITE. I KIND OF UNCLEAR WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH. BUT AS U STATED MIDI IS JUST INFORMATION THE PERFORMACE CONTROL AND NOT AN AUDIO SIGNAL. PEACE COLOSUSS7

What do you exactly want to do ? Midi is for "talking" to other instruments from the mpc, or playing mpc sounds with a keyboard...

Im gonna search for that book Colosuss..Thanks. Really, all i want to do right now is be able to hook my keyboard...(cheap yamaha PSR-GX76) to my mpc, and be able to use it with midi. I dont know if this is possible with my current keyboard, cause its sorta cheap & old. I was told im gonna need a mixer and an amp too. Any suggestions on these two products? I like going for quality over quantity, but i dont want to spend too much either. Peace. Roman

Just plug mpc midi in into keyboard midi out and mpc midi out into keyboard midi in. Then, if you want to play with the mpc pads the keyboard sounds, set a midi track with the right out (1a for example) and it should be ok. when recording a midi track, the mpc receives and keep all knobs movments as midi evenements (is it the right word? not sure), well at least it does with my virus !
