Partitioning a zip disc?

Can a zip disc be partitioned. I've noticed when saving to my internal zip that the memory fills up rather quickly. I also see that it says I should have around 70 something mb's left on the disk. Any insight.

the mpc will only recognize so many files on a zip disk. yes you can partition a zip disk. yes this will let you get x number of files on each partition and make better use of the disk. do not partition your current zip disk as doing so will lose all the stuff you currently have saved on it.

So how do I actually partition the zip disk.. When and where?

Go to SAVE, press FORMAT (F3), top right it says 'Parts:A-A' - jog wheel so it says 'A-B' or A-C etc, it will tel you the size of the partitions. Hit do it. The result is a partitioned zip disk that can hold 500 files in each partition.

So is the advantage to partitioning that it only makes the mpc search that particular section of the zip, making loading quicker. Or does it actually allow you to get more space out of a zip? Or both?

if you are hitting the file limit on how many files the mpc will utulize on a disk (or partition) and it is says the disk is full even though you have 70 megs left, then using a partitioned zip would have let you get more storage out of it.

I've never ran into that problem. I usually stop a little short of completely filling up a disc, just out of habit, but I always save 'till there's at least 10-05 megs left.
