mpc2000xl drum roll?

Do you guys know how i can take a snare sound and have it play REALLY fast over and over to where it kinda sounds like a drum roll? like.. 3 real quick snare sounds that fit in 1/16th.. either with a sample our through midi?

Note repeat, step edit. For realism you might want to change the level, pitch, attack, decay time a little.
Try changing up on quantization as well.

set the quantize on 1/16 (3)triplets and press the note repeat/tap tempo button during a sequence....also do what j smacks said too

If your not able to create what your looking for, I am in the process of sampling Drum Rolls from my Dr-202. I'll post a few of the snares for you if you want. let me know.

it looks like it'd work for samples but the note repeat button doesn't do ANYTHING for midi tracks. is there a way to make it so the note repeat button will work on midi as well? ever since i got my triton i've been using alot of drum sounds off of that instead of samples.. but if the only way to do it through samples.. i guess thats what i gotta do right? just wondering if its possible and if so, how.

You can take a short drum sound and set the sample to loop. Adjust the length of the loop until you get the speed that you want. Can you set loop points on the Triton's sounds?

I find the best way to get a realistic snare roll is to

Turn off quantise
Turn off full level
Get three (different) samples of the same snare and assign to three adjacent pads
perform the roll with your fingers, on the pads, lots of times and pick the best one. (dont bother with Note repeat unless you want it sounding mechanical)

If you dont have variations of the same snare sound, make your own using attack, low pass filter and tuning. I recommend subtle changes, maybe just +/-1 tuning, 4 or 5 off the attack and low pass of around 98.
