2kxl on CL

ive been looking on CL for a 2kxl ive found some good ones for around 400-475...but most have the upgrades int/ext zip as well...and i may just pick one up...but i see other 2kxls an ****** want 1300 for it...is that right???

yeah. prices are all different when people want to sell their gear on craigslist. especially with a machine like the 2kxl. people get their Akais and then upgrade it, which means they bought it for like $700 and then put in another $300-500 in it to upgrade the thing. so, i understand if someone is selling it for $1300. it makes sense and kinda doesnt since you can get a used mpc4000 or mv8800 for that price....

anyway, i say check out the ones for $400/475, which is an awesome deal, but be really anal about it. check it out fully, turn it on, see if a beat loads, check the pads, floppy/flash drive, check out all the accessories and see if they work (if it comes with a zip, zip disks... etc). just do your homework and your purchase wont be something you regret.

yea i feel what ur saying on the upgrades but the 400/475 have the 8outs an 32mb an a ent/ext zip or floopy

they have internal or external zip i say go for it. 32 megs, 8 outs, all good things to have. 32 mb id say is better over 8 outs, but it depends on what you are using it for. i think there was a package the akai came like that. like "maxed out" or something. i know i have a sticker on my akai saying that. floppy is a pain because you will be using multiple disks, but then again its all a matter of preference.

im in the middle of installing an internal drive in my akai right now (if i can get it right ha!).... external broke so doing the upgrade, finally. using an external is fine. i used one for about 8 years, though its just more stuff to lug around. that is if you are portable with you gear.
