MicroKorg and MPC2000XL MIDI Problem

I can"t figure out how to get my MPC and Micro hooked up correctly. The physical connection is correct but when I go to a new track on the MPC and change to a new sound for that track on the Micro it changes the old sound I already had recorded to the new preset I picked. Please any advice?

the microkorg is not polyphonic, meaning it cant play 2 sounds at once.

yeah thats the downside to the microkorg...its not multi timbral. You do get 2 timbres however, but they cant be split and played seperately at the same time.
