Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

That ever happen to you guys with internal zip drives on MPC2000xl?
Put disk in, screen just says "wait" for a long time, then it shows "no disk inserted" on the disk ops. screen. On midicase it says to try to install zip drive in a computer to make sure it works.

Don't want to spend a crapload of money on repairs. How can I tell if I just
need a new drive?

Please reply.

Thanks.

sounds like the "click of death" - usually associated with zip drives...

seems like there are more problems with the internal zip drives (for me) than scsi zip drives - although- the internal zip drives are a shitload faster than the externals.

BTW, is it a brand new zip disk -

No..zip disks I have tried to load are not new---they have prgrams / beats on them. Bought MPC used. Everything else on machine seems to be OK.
What should I do? Also, if I go ahead and buy an external drive, do I have to remove the internal one for machine to work properly?
