Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By gangreen Tue May 19, 2009 4:44 pm
I'm looking to trade my 2000xl for a 2500.

Here what Im offering on the table:

good condition mpc 2000xl with the following stats:
-non hot swap card reader installed
-1 gig memory card
-ZIP drive and 4 discs w/ cable
-max memory
-SMTPE option

This guy offering to trade for a "mint" condition 2500 with max memory.

What kind of cash offering should I be making in addition to what I listed, what's fair?

Thanks all.

I'd keep the xl, he is getting rid of the 2500 for a reason!

Im hoping your being sarcastic :)

I want the JJOS extra functions including on the fly time stretch capabilities. Gotta have that.

hmm...Ill never get rid of the 2kxl. IMO, the best MP. Has the best balance between build quality, functions and features. Ive owned a 1000 as well and sold it after 6 months. The ONLY thing I wish the xl could do is sample while playing back.

The other additional functionality I need for workflow improvement is the 2500's usb transfer capabilities.

I don't plan on adding a HD right away but definitely want to use the CF card to transfer and edit my samples in my DAW (Cubase).

Any cash offering suggestions? Ebay is selling used 2500s for about 700-800 with the setup this guy has or better. I'm definitely factoring in my card reader upgrade and the zip drive w/ cable($50)

xl w/cf reader, $50:

usb cf reader. 8.99 CAD @ radio shack.

$60-70 solution...If you can find a hot swappable reader for the mp, there is almost no difference between usb and cf card.

i'd keep the 2kxl and just get a usb compact flash card reader to switch files over.......don't get me wrong jjos is fun to p[lay with, but i prefer going nuts with live 8 alongside the 2kxl.

Why don't you ask the guy and take it from there?

I recently sold sold my 2kxl for £460 and bought a fully upgraded and totally mint 2500 for £700. With the extra ram, effects and outs as standard, bigger screen, hard drive and JJ os the 2500 is in a different league to the XL.
