"No Scsi device!"/replacing scsi

I just moved my MPC 2000xl to a new place, and the zip drive has stopped working.

I know that I have the right gear and cords, because it used to work fine.

Now I cant get it to load at all. It doesn't even detect it.

I tried getting a new cord, and testing the drive on something else

do I need a new scsi interface? how much, and where can I get one?

Do you have another zip disk, that you could use to test. It could be that you have a bad disk, or the drive it self is dead.


If you pluged a scsi device into your mpc while it was turned on, you could have burnt out your scsi fuse(let's hope not)

try to turn the knob to to the right till it says scsi5

dude. i bet you un-plugged the scsi device while the mpc was still turned on??? doing this causes the unit to blow its scsi fuse. and you will need to get it fixed... suk balls.

I dont recall doing that, but either way, the shit isn't working.

yeah i just got mine replaced. mcalisters in sunnyvale in cali did mine but it took 4 weeks to diagnose and fix! you can get a list of registered dealers from akai. i would suggest sending it direct to them as more than likely a dealer will have to send out for a manual which slows down the whole process.
