hi guys...i got my 8 outs card for my MPC2000XL, so now my shit is fully upgraded...

anywayz...i have a problem...

i got the card mainly so that i can assign whatever tracks i want PLUS a click for our drummer to hear with headphones.

now...right now, all i've been doing is this:
i have 2 sequences, 1 track each...and i made a song in which sequence 1 plays once, then after that sequence 2 plays over and over again (i set it to 99)...

i hook up some headphones to the HEADPHONES output (yeah i know, it's the ghetto way of doing it) so that our drummer can hear what's going on and keep on time with it...

but now THIS is what i wanna do:
i want to be able to send whatever tracks i want into the headphones, and even a click on top of it just to help him with the timing better.

can someone help me do this?
all i really want is him to hear the same shit he's been hearing but also now with a click on it (but obviously not for the audience to hear the click. lol).

please help a brotha out...

thanx a lot guys,
-chris

I presume as you've got the 8 outs you've got some kind of mixer too. It might be easier to sort this out with the mixer's routing rather than the MPC if you can do a headphone monitor mix that is different to the main output signal on that mixer.

With the MPC you should be able to assign sounds to the 8 outs but also have them going through the stereo outs. What the drummer hears through the headphone output is the same mix going through the stereo outs. Therefore, have the click just going through the stereo outs. What the audience hear should be just the individual 8 outputs. Again presuming you are using a mixer, to be safe don't connect the MPC's stereo outs to this mixer.

to do what you want you need to set the click for in play as well, and not use the main outs at all for the audience. then the stereo mix will control what the drummer hears, along with the click.

in the metronome screen (other? Misc? I forget what the 2000 calls it) set metronome to In Play on or yes.

Then the stereo outs of your mpc are not to be heard by anyone but the drummer, the click will be on the headphone out as well as any pads that have their levels up in the main stereo mix screen.

but...i'm still kind of lost...

ok...i have my MPC2000XL hooked up to a Roland KC-500 amp.

the audience hears the SONG(s) of course (sequences 1 and 2) and any pads i hit, but i want my DRUMMER to hear both sequences (the SONG i made) AND CLICK as well.

how would i do that?

i'm confused...
is there an IM screen name i could talk to you from?
u could PM me if u'd like...

thanx for the help so far, but if i can get this really goin', it would benefit SO much.

Dude you're killing me over here!!

OK, send individual outs 1 and 2 to the amp, send everything out through those that you want the audience to hear. Send the headphone out to the drummer, with the setting in misc or whatever under metronome to in play On.

If that doesn't help, I see a date with the manual in your future...
