Which of these to get???

Im going to get an 2000XL.

Is this any diff from the beige one, other than the card reader, is it worth the extra 90-100 uk pounds?.

Would you get that one or a standard with 8outs, fx board extra mem etc?

Any advice much appreciated.

589 quid??? That's too much money!
The only difference between the blue and beige 2KXL is that the blue is the newer model with a Zip drive or card reader.
As far as the fx board, 8-outs or max memory... I'd got for max memory but 32Mb RAM is cheap nowadays and easy to install yourself.

Color and mcd is the only difference, no other difference. Get 8 outs instead of effects card.
You can do effects, BETTER EFFECTS, on computer later on in production.

Max out to 32mb if you can..

I think i will try and get a standard 2000xl with 8 outs and maxed memory, card reader if possible but if not just get tha zip. Maybe i can get this all for £450.

I'd say yes because the card readers that Akai put in are ATAPI and will support the hotswapping of CF cards.
Most aftermarket card readers available these days are IDE and do not support hot-swapping.

Thanks, but what do u mean by hot swapping, is this when you switch the cf card from the mpc to you computer? And this might b a stupid Q, but how would you transfer files on the cf card to the computer? would i need to get a 'slot' for my comp aswell as mpc?

Hotswapping means the ability to change CF cards while everything is powered up. If your card reader doesn't support it, then you have to power everything down if you want to change CF cards. It has nothing to do with a computer.

You might want to buy a USB card reader so you could use the CF cards in your computer but you'll need a 3rd party progarm to access them like Translator, Awave, MPCEditor, etc.

That's all you get - the rest you'll have to search for.
