"SCSI conflict ID#6"

i am just getting started with my first MPC, I got a 250 zip drive and bought a cable 50 pin to 25 pin SCSI cable as this website said. I connected the drive to the MPC and when I turn on my MPC2000xl and go to load I get the message, "SCSI Conflict ID#6". Has anyone else encountered this, and do you have any idea how to fix it? in the back of the ZIP drive, it has two small switches in between the 2 SCSI ports. The switches say something like ID #5 and #6. I have tried having these switches in almost every order possible and it still comes up with the same error message.
Someone help me out here.

yo, i had a bit of trouble when i started with my scsi zip. first make sure that the drive is on when u switch the mpc on. i put mine on five on the drive and the mpc kept saying the old conflict screen until i formatted the disk. i guess keep fiddling with what drive number your using until the conflict message doesnt turn up, and format are my only helping words. i had some teething problems at first with it too. peace

the MPC is set to ID #6 so you can't set your drive to that ID. Set it to 5.

This is more trouble than I ever thought it would be. I tried setting the Zip drive to 5 in the back, it didnt work, same problem. Turned on and off the MPC, and tried to load again, no go. I have heard you can set your MPC to ID#5 somehow in the MPC options, and it wont give you the ID#6 error with the zip drive.

Set the zip drive to id5 and terminate to on.

SCSI is a chain. Every device on the chain needs a diff't #. The MPC is 6 so your drive can be any other number. Add a CDROM drive, it can be any number besides 6, and the ZIP #. Ad a harddrive, same thing. There are 9 (I think) SCSI ID #'s, so you can have up to 9 items linked.
HOWEVER, the total length of the cables used cannot total more than 6 meters in length. Also, the first and last item on the SCSI chain must be terminated (the other switch next to the ID# switch) and ONLY the first and last item. If you wanna hookup a HD too, you have to turn the term. switch on the ZIP off, and then add the HD and set the HD term. to on.

Also, make sure the MPC and othe SCSI devices are turned off, otherwise you can blow the fuse in you MPC.
