Saving beats/sequences to disk...

having problems doing this....

I do a beat.....

I format my disk.....

I go to the saving screen...

I save 'all programs' file w/samples also...

it starts to do it, but then after a second it says i don't have enough disk space insert a diff. one....

I've been using brand new disks.....

what gives? I only be tryin to save like 4K of data....

i bet that your disks run out of storage space.
get a zip drive or a HD to make sure everything is ok.
if you still want to use floppys, sample in mono and with maximum pitch on your turntable(then pitch down on the mpc)
you could also get a CF card reader.

This is misleading. The PRG data it's self is 4k, however all of your sounds aren't included in this size. This is just the size of the program, not of the samples. Go to the trim screen, highlight the name of your sound, then hit open window. This should show you the size of your actual sample. As previously suggested, in order to get your sample sizes down, sample with the pitch turned up, and in mono.

thing is, I am sampling in Mono.....

I know that you can put whole beats on disks, I've seen Damu The Fudgemunk who also has a regular 2000 do this.....

I think it would be really dope to be able to put my beats on disk and have a grip with me at any given time....still wondering how this is done....

it depends on what amount of samples u have in a program to, they could all be small but u maybe have too much, u can even have some ur not using, but are still tryin to sve to the disk, go to program and purge the progrm, and maybe then u can save it.
if even like that it still asks for other disk just insert other, whats the diference? u have to carry one more fllopy
I also save my stuff to fllopys, mostly because, whre I live I can't get new zip disks(have the drive, but all my zip disks are old and dead), or scsi card readers . but I just have to use one fllopy per program(I even save a program and all seq songs in one fllopy), but I dont know if you fill all your pads, I usualy only get like 24 samples per program ( my second row of pads is dead), so maybe is that
