SCSI External CD Drive Question

It's in Akai format so my PC can't read it.

Thanks for the offer of sending me a sample CD (appreciated) but i'm UK based so it's not worth your time.

What I have just tried though, is downloading some WAV files onto a cd and the same thing happened. The MPC recognises that the CD rom drive is attached, but the directory appears blank and once again a bunch of ?'s appear by 'type'.

I was reading through the manual and it does mention somewhere that if ?'s appear next to the type field is can mean that your drive is incompatible. Maybe i've just had a bit of bad luck. I'd be happy to buy though you scsiforsamplers if it means I can finally get things moving!!

Does anyone have a list of compatible SCSI CD Rom Drives (or even a list of those that are possibly incompatible?)... I just don't want to go through the same problem on the next one I buy. I've searched the net but can't seem to find anything (including the Akai site)...

I have a mpc2k and recently tried to upgrade my sampling ability via an external SCSI cd-rom. I have had problems with this connection since I got it. The bottom line is, these particular machines (mpc2000) are finicky about the cd-roms for god only knows why. everyone has suggested getting a zip drive, which does have less problems. The cd's are recognized but the 2k doesn't wanna load 'em up. The drive is fine, the scsi cable is fine, the cd's are fine, just the 2k prefers floppies and zips. SCSIforsamplers is a great store by the way, but no matter what, cd-roms have a hard time with mpc2k's. Get a zip drive, save yourself the hassle.
