This question probably has a simple solution but i'm stumped...i tried using the tutorials on this site but i'm still stuck....
I just hooked up a keyboard to my 2000XL (this is the first time i've used the MPC with a keyboard added)...This is my setup (tell me if i should set it up different...) i connected the keyboard via midi...MIDI outA of MPC to MIDI in of keyboard, and MIDI In1 of MPC from MIDI out of keyboard. I then have the Stereo left/right outs of the MPC going into my Roland VS1680 recorder (tracks 3/4, left/right), and my output of the keyboard into channels 5/6 of my 1680. So my 1680 is used as a monitor and recorder for both the MPC and Keyboard....I can make sequencences and its working fine, but whenever i make a drum pattern on the MPC (using only internal samples that i loaded into the MPC - pads) my keyboard will also get the MIDI data and play those single notes (i will hit a pad - lets say a kick - and the kick will play but the keyboard will also play a note)...how do i change my setup so the keyboard wont play notes/sounds that should only sound from internal MPC samples? And when i record MIDI tracks (like a bassline from the keyboard), how do I make sure the keyboard will only play the bass notes in the bass line and not also the notes that are the same as the pads playing?
I've been stumped for 2 days, and the solution is probably something pretty simple....thanks for any reply....
