Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have these samples that I loaded into my mpc from my comp via a zip disk. I use a scsi zip drive. For some reason these samples got loud cracks and pops inside the mpc. I reloaded the samples on the disk and back into the mpc and they sounded fine. Then when I saved my sounds and programs and sequences these certain samples are making the same loud cracks and pops. Could it be a bad file format for the mpc? they are wav files the other wav files I have loaded havent had this prob. I exported them from recycle. Any way its really annoying and I was wondering if anyone has experience something similar or has any advice.

Thanks

i dont know if i can answer your problem, but this has happen to me years ago AND to a friend of mine who recently purchased a newer MPC2000xl and just started experiencing some of these same problems.

When it happened to me I was using an external zip drive and the cracks and pops came when i left it on for a while. it would gradually get worse and worse until stuff was distorted. its kinda odd because this literally only happened a couple times. is it possible i was using an old disk? bad program? i remember doing the same thing that you did, but it stuck with the sounds. each sample i save had pop and cracks so, im pretty sure i never used that program or disk again. also im really conscience of leaving my MPC on for a while now.

for my friend he has a CF card reader. certain samples have those pops and cracks. a snare or kick would be fine, but samples a little bit longer than a drum, like a crash or ride would have pops and cracks. he thinks it the way he copied them onto his disk on his computer. did you export your files from recycle using a usb zip?? or sample them in your akai? still dont know really whats causing it for my friend and the only conclusion we had was its a bad copy onto his disk. anyway hope this helps and good luck!

hey im glad you replied. so, my same friend with the CF reader is experiencing the same problems again, but in full force. we knew there were those pops and crack when loading files into his MPC, but now it happening when he samples like actually IN sample mode. first, it came when there was a sample longer that about 7 seconds. the pops and cracks would come in at the very end of the sample. then it would just go on while sample mode without even sampling anything. i checked my cables, turned it off and back on, changed the power source, and we thought that did the trick. some grounding issue other something, but then after sampling twice it came back. so basically his problems are that when he loads a disk, samples, AND when in sample mode all those pops and cracks come up. it really sucks. dont get me wrong. its on and off and hes been able to make beats, but im have no clue what the cause is now...

so, i guess my questions are:
is this a common problem and can it be fixed?
has this happen to any of you (because its happened to me too, but not this bad)?
broken sampler? bad ram?
