Firstly, thanks to the tutor for the last reply (assigning). . . .

I have one more question. Once Ive programmed a melody using the pads, how can I alter it slightly in editing mode (for example, to delete
a certain note or to sync the beats up in time if I didnt quantanise it). . when I select "step editing" I only get a blank screen. . . .

To quantize your 16 levels melody, just go to the timing correct screen, and hit just the pad that you used for the 16 levels function, then set quantize to taste, and press do it, or is it move existing?

to use step edit you need to have the quantize setting in timing correct screen set to the same quantize setting as the note you are trying to edit, or set to off. if you use the double arrows above the rec/play/stop buttons it will take you to the next event, so you don't have to go through all blank steps.

If you hold "go to" and press the > or < button it automatically goes to the next (or previous) event. No matter what quantize is set to.
