SEQUENCING MULTIPLE PROGRAMS IN MPC 2000XL

Say I have a program of drums in my drum 1 bank (shift 6), and my samples program in my drum 2, how can I sequence the samples over the drums without it **** my original drum sequence up?

i dont have an XL but i believe i read someone saying you set it to drum1 or drum2 on the main screen. same place that you set drum or midi1a,etc.

I just tried and it does the same thing. It played out my drum sequence using the sample program instead of my drum program when i switched drum 1-4 banks. What I want to do is have a sequence of samples going from one program, and layer drums over it from another program. How can this be done? Do i have to record the audio?

That's because you need to assign your pgms to drum 1 and drum 2 etc....
Hit shift > Program
Select drum 1 > then select the program you want for drum 1
select drum 2> then select different program for drum 2.

On the main screen let's say you are using track 1 select drum program 1
when you want to sequence the other program sounds select track 2 and select drum program 2.
