scsi cd rom drive trbl...?CAN ANYBODY HELP??????????AHHHHHHH

I just bought a brand new HITACHI Cd-Rom SCSI 2 Drive. I also have a 100mb (blue Zip Disk Drive). I do not remember what to set the ip drive on termination id 5 or 6////And do i turn on termination or not?

Also my Cd-Rom Drive has 6 switches to select on the back of it. switches 1,2,3 are labeled scsi id in the manual///Switch 4 is labeled Parity On/Off///Switch 5 is labeled Terminator On/Off///Switch 6 is labeled Logical block length selection.........I have no clue of which switches to select......Can someone please help me? LAMPDOG HELP ME BROTHA!

Termination always has to be on. Go through the SCSI ID #'s until it works.

As long as its the last device in the SCSI chain, no? You wouldn't want to have a device in the middle of the chain terminated.

No yeah if it's MPC to SCSI Zip then yeah it needs to be ON.

Then it's probably binary...just set switch 1 to on and the others off, and select ID 1 in the MPC.

Yup should work.

good 'ol scsi/serial....

set your baud rate, parity, bit rate, etc.etc.etc. on your dip switches and hope everything coincides on both devices!!! Try not having any users manuals, and connecting a device that has 6 switches each with 3 settings. Each time you change a switch setting, the unit must be powered down and to reboot takes 2-3 min.........

I was going to post the page of the 2kxl manual that states what scsi id the mpc uses but you don't manual fags, lol.

You'll have to set your mpc to some other scsi id than what the mpc uses.

also, parallel/scsi combo devices won't work with the mpc. So if it's a combo drive then you are assed out, sorry to say but that's what it is, the manual even says so, and I've tried before with combo drives and had to tell other peeps the same things while messing with it right then and there..

There is a thread somewhere that details what the connections of a parallel/scsi combo drive look like and
even states that it won't work, and it has pics of a scsi drive and shows what scsi id's and termination settings and everything, it's very detailed. I don't remember the title of the thread though.

If you can find it then it's VERY helpful.
