Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi MPCians!

Just a question of pure curiosity :

I recently bought a classic grey MPC2000XL and then I noticed the Akai logo is not the "classic" one but the "new" one, like on the blue MCD.

I've searched and I didn't find any serie name for this MPC.

The 32Mb RAM seem to be factory installed and there is no card reader or extension. Just the good ol'grey MPC but with the new logo.

Any idea about which serie is this?

Thanks!

All 2kxl's are the same despite the color/writing.

Can have internal atapi/ide drive
Can have 32mb max memory
Can have 8 outs and SPDIF.

Thanks but I know they're the same just I've never seen mine anywhere. So I wonder which serie is it.

It has no 8 outs so no spdif, 32Mb factory RAM, basic floppy drive, no fx and OS is 1.14.

The guy I bought it from did't change anything, no upgrade, nothing.

Your thinking about it too hard. It's a 2kxl, that's it.

There's probably a timeline where Akai hired a designer to make a new logo and they started using it at some point. Your MPC could be newer than some, not being able to find any info on it would intrigue me too.

For the factory RAM clue, I say this cause when I bought it I asked the guy about the RAM (he bought the MPC brand new) he told me "I didn't change anything, I don't know what's inside", so I had to ask him about the recording time to know that there were 32Mb.

A pic of the beast:

On the front side, next to the floppy, the logo is also a new one, not the classic one.

It better be tame, that's why I prefer MPC than computers. :D

Thanks for the link, but I don't think my MPC is custom, just an unsual serie I think.

there is a difference in the drive and the OS between the oldest XL model and newer grey, blue ones
