Sequencing using Triton Le and MoPhatt

I have been trying to figure this process for the past week. For some reason I cannot sequence more than one Midi channel on my sound module while using the MPC as the sequencer (ie. Triton LE keyboard acting as sound module, MoPhatt). Here is the lowdown:

The problem is when I try to sequence using the MPC as the master it will only allow me to record one midi channel. I tried to use the Triton and the MoPhatt and i cannot get either to do multi midi channel recording. Please tell me how to set up the MPC and Triton, MoPhatt to be able to record multi midi channels.

Heres what I did on the MPC set up:
* I put the cursor over to Midi and changed 'S' to 'M'. I set up the Midi channel to 1A to match Track 1. 1A is where the Triton is set up. Then Track 2 which is Midi channel 2A and so on. It wont let me record 2A with 1A. The Triton has the sounds set up for channels 1 and 2. Is there something else I should be doing on the MPC to make this happen. The same thing is happening with the Mo Phatt which is hooked up to Midi channels 1B, 2B and so on. PLEASE HELP ME I AM GOING CRAZY ON THIS ONE! I know it is probably simple but im too new to realize it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Multi midi record is if you have the midi sequenced in another sequencer i.e. your triton and you want to transfer it to your MPC sequencer. For example, let's say you made a melody sequence on your Triton consisting of midi tracks 1-8. You would set your MPC up to record the Triton on tracks 1-8. Next you would hit record on your MPC and then hit play on your Triton. This in return would record the existing MIDI data from the Triton to the MPC sequence so you could lay down the drums/other samples from the MPC ( make sure you set the BPM the same ). The Mo Phatt is not a sequencer so unless you have it connected to another sequencer you will not be able to multi record midi from it because you will have to play it into the MPC. What if I want to use the MPC as the master sequencer and sound trigger from the Triton LE and the MoPhatt both as sound modules and record the performances using the MPC. Meaning the Triton and the Mophatt are just sound modules and the MPC is the boss both triggering the sounds and sequencing them. What would the set up look like?

You just set the MPC to "s" instead of "m" go to "midi 1A or whatever and play around with your keyboard to make sure it is playing. Hit record and play your melody with your sequence. Do this for each midi track. Your Triton will also be your controller for your MoPhatt so make sure that you have your midi cords run right.
Triton Out = MPC In (A or B)
Triton In = MPC Out (1)
MoPhatt In = MPC Out (2)
MoPhatt Out = MPC In (A or B)

that is how mine is set up. I am running a Kawai K4 and MoPhatt with the Kawai being the controller. I don't really use the Kawai much for sounds but occasionally. Good Luck, I hope this helps you out.

Thank you for all of your help! Just one more point.

I dont have the Midi port B Expansion board for the MoPhatt. Do you think I will be able to still use the MPC as the master and sequence using the MoPhatt and the Triton. MoPhatt runs on Midi A of MPC and Triton runs on Midi B of MPC. I was told I can do this by some guys at the music store and he knows midi well.

Did you have any problems with this in your set up? Whats your thoughts?

Yeah that won't matter. The midi B on the Mo Phatt is only if you add an expansion board which will give you 32 midi tracks instead of 16. Mine only has one midi in and out too. You should be cool.

Have you tried running your mo phatt from the midi thru of your triton? And your triton connected to the midi out and in of the MPC.

This info can be found on pg 11. of the mpc manual.

I dont know what is going on but i cannot get this whole multi midi channel thing going. Thank you for everyones help so far! I need some direction still on this one. If I use the 'M' instead of 'S' should i be setting up the In and Out in the pop up window. I need some direction.............

i got tha same problem so has.i have it on "s" and i set track one to out 1a and my keyboard is set to channel 1 and i record a track just fine.but when i switch to track 2 and set the keyboard to channel 2 the melody that was made in track 1 is now being played with the sounds from channel 2 on the keyboard.

meaning i can only play one keyboard channel on the mpc.i need to find out how to record different channels and play them all on my mpc to have them as a sequence.

If someeone could be so kind as to explain this once and for all, maybe the administrator of this board could add this information to the MPC-Tutor section.
I cannot get beyond one sound on my triton either.

A friend of mine told me to set it (the triton) to "multi"... but I knoe he has the rack as opposed to the keyboard (the LE for me).

I need to know what to do with the Triton and the MPC step by step.

The help you guys can provide would be extremely powerful and would get a few of us, plus many more in the future straightened out.

Can someone explain where the Multi function is on the Triton.
