Creating a Bass Line

bass samples. multisamples. keyboards. guitars. peice of string, a broom and a soap box.

This is one way you can do it......

- Press the 16 levels button
- Select the bass sound
- select tuning in the 16 levels window
- select the starting level, default is 4, I usually go with 8
- press do it

this will scale your bass sample across all the pads. now just play the bassline the way you want it.

read up on the manual for real. If you don't have a copy, download it from the AKAI site.

i have a problem with the MPC2000 classic (not xl):
when i use 16 levels to record a bassline (for example) the recorded note
is in the original pitch, seems that no te variations aren't recorded in
the sequence.
i searched in the manual, but seems that there's no mention of it
i only found this:
"If you are recording a piano or bass line from an external MIDI keyboard,
set the track to MIDI."
but i don't want to use a midi keyboard
i've tried in mono, poly and note off but i can't record melody in the
sequence
anybody knows the solution?

turn off the note varation slider,make sure none of the notes is assigned to it.

than apply the 16 levels function

i dont' know why but it doesn't work
the 2000 records only the original tuning of the sample

i had a 2000 for years and it does work..

make sure the note is not assigned to the note variation slider,press shift+after and set assign note to off.

2nd turn off the midi,this might also be the cause..

than press 16 levels,the notepad and than set the paremeter to NOTE VAR

it has to work

midi is off
note slider is not assigned to the sample (off)
i've tried sampling a new sound
i reboot the machine and follow the instructions
i can hear the note variations when i hit the pads but when i record a sequence the mpc only record the sample on his original tuning in the new sequence
?
