Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey guys, my road dog xl has a jog wheel that seems to have a funny spot in the encoder. if i hit the pads hard enough, it will sometimes jump values. this is bad, cause i use it in my show and set the cursor to "program", and it sometimes jumps programs in the middle of a song-even did this once when i was using a remote controller and was 20 ft away from it. wierd.

anyway, i see that mpcstuff.com is sold out of it. has anyone successfully FIXED it? i know that the endless encoders on some synths(OB xpander/M-12) can be fixed with compressed air sometimes. worth it? or is it just shot and i NEED to find a replacement? thanks for the help.

and ps-i built what i think is the first ever remote wireless MPC master controller. if you search youtube for "rjd2 commissioner crotchbuttons" you might be able to find a video of it?

Compressed air can be hit or miss -- it's not going to hurt anything if you try. However, I've never found it to be a long-term fix. I've had mixed success using DeOxit cleaning encoders in the past. You can buy this online or at Ratshack

Some people have had success using ALPS STEC12E07 as a replacement. You may be able get "engineering samples" directly from ALPS or from distributors like Allied Electronics if you ask nicely...
