I have an Mpc 2000xl, Emu Mo Phatt module, Korg Triton. Right now I have my set up to where I have the Triton playing sounds from itself and sounds in the mpc as well as sounds from Emu. I then record each track into the mpc through its seq. My question is when I have made a beat after pulling sounds from my external equip. and everything plays back through the mpc sequencer how would I go about saving that entire beat to where I could come back later and load it back up exactly the way I left it? And pull the sounds back up from my keyboard and modules? Is this possible with Mpc?
this is where you get into midi control and program messages.
1. Not sure about the Triton but read its manual to see where the MSB and LSB functions lie. My guess would be that the MSB would remain at 0 for all sounds and the LSB would change starting with bank A at 0 and up 1 for each bank from then on (B=1, c=2, etc...). The MSB determines the rom or soundchip that the info is coming from while the LSB determines the bank number.
2. With the Emu, not sure if same as Proteus setup, but...you should be able to find the MSB and LSB numbers in the preset audition screen. If not manual should provide clearcut info on this.
3. Go into step screen on mpc.
>Select insert
>use toggle wheel to scroll to program change and hit DO IT; insert the number of the program/preset (for most modules, program will be one up from the modules preset number because the mpc starts at 1 while many sound banks start at 0...0=1, 1=2 and so on...)
>select insert again and scroll to control change and hit DO IT; it should read MSB; insert the number for the sound you are trying to save here if required.
>repeat last step and when you see MSB, highlight this section and hit 32+enter. the control message should now say LSB. enter the appropriate number for the sound here.
Additionally you can also control the panning and volume of these sounds if mixing in stereo from your module or keyboard. These control messages are number 10 for PAN and 7 for VOLUME...
