ASsigning notes

I know this is a newbie question but i cant find out how to assign notes to multiple pads.I looked in the manual and i coulndt find an answer to my problem.Each time i assign a ntoe to a pad , and i try to assing an other note to another pad , It cancel the first note setting.I know this is basic but it really annoys me , can someone help me plz ?

so you're in the assign window . . . are you hitting the pad to select it, and then using the jog wheel to select the sound you want on the pad?
