Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Alright...I have the whole beat under a sequence. How can I split up the hihat , kick, etc. under song mode? I wanna make certain tracks pause up at a certain point and stuff like that. I'm kinda confused. Is it possible? The manual doesn't really help for what i'm trying to do. If someone can hit me up with some info I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

in sequence mode you can copy certain notes to different tracks... put all your kicks on one, hats on another, etc.

Yes, you need to break up your tracks when sequencing, then move into song mode.

All though, from song mode, you can convert a song into one whole sequence..... but that doesn't really help you much.

I find it best to record drums one by one on individual tracks in a seq.

i.e. Track 1 - kick, track2 - hat, etc, etc.....

But since you've already recorded the entire beat on one track, i would copy and paste via step editing.

I already have the beat split up on different tracks, but they're all in one sequence. How can I break the tracks in the sequence up in song mode? I wanna split up the tracks in songmode so then i can stop the hi hat when i want, or have a instrument only come in for the hook and stuff like that.

Oh okay, i misunderstood!

In that case, i'm not sure. I would also like to know.

you can either use the track mute screen, or make additional sequences like main sequence with and without the hats, then switch between those in song mdoe.

oh and you can also use the song mode for the arrangment (chain your main sequences together) then covert that 'song' to a big long sequence which you can edit in stepedit, and/or using the erase button (to delete certain notes from certain bars), aslo the copy/paste, all the normal 'sequence' editing you can do from the main screen just on a larger scale (kinda). you can use that method to easily arrange your parts, then go back through the big sequence and add your variations, pauses, etc.
