volume control

When using ext. midi sounds recorded into each track of the mpc2000 to make a beat is there anywhere on the mpc where you could adjust the volume of each track? It may sound dumb but how would u do so?

You have to make the volume changes on the MIDI device... that is the only way to make the adjustment... keep in mind that the MPC is only sending data to the MIDI device and that the actual sound is coming from the MIDI device

Not true. You can send volume data to any midi device.

Press Step (F1)
Then Insert (F4)
A window will open that says "insert event" in the Type: field set it to Control Change (it should already be there). Press Do it (F5).
Turn the dial until it reads Main Volume (cc#7) and set the value there (0-127).

or you could just change the velocity parameter in the sequence window

changing velocity also affects the resulting sound, not just volume.

true, well he could always change the volume in the mixer right?

No good for external devices, the mixer will only effect internal sounds.

the midi device ie synth, drum machine needs to respond to external volume control messages sent by MPC in order to work
Over time youll see some do (like the Roland JP8080) and some dont (like older synths)
