Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Infamous Sun Apr 18, 2010 1:23 pm
One doubt.

Let's say i'm changing the tune of a snare with the NVSlider, if i stop, that snare has to be with the exact variation that i've putted. Isn't possible that the variation starts to "go down" (to -120) after i hit the snare a couple of times, like i'm moving the slider.

I'm doing this without recording, only experiencing the slider.

That means that sums wrong with it right?

The slider shouldn't drift unless it is touched. Sounds like there is some dirt or other gunk in there and probably needs a good cleaning. Try cleaning it out with something like Deoxit to see if it restores it.

Oh ok, I get it now, yeah, I've had that problem before too, I open up the machine, opened the slider and cleaned it out. I had to do some soldering but that wasn't a problem for me.

Sorry for the poor description.

Tuning was changing without touching the slider.

I can see that the slider (took the plastic button off) is a bit crooked to the left. So i glued on the left part of the slider (with only a very small portion of a strong glue) a very thin piece of plastic (like a rectangle with 1cm of a nice plastic), so that the slider could be straight. Then i've covered the slider again with his own plastic button, and that was it.

This way the slider.. slides very nice, and tune isn't changing.

It's like, because he's not really straight he was missing something inside and the mpc "thought" i was moving the slider down.

Now it's working correctly.

Not to open another topic...

ANy of you has the MPC2000Xl connected to Cubase?

If so, how? One doubt. Recording from the MPC to Cubase in Midi, it means that i will be able to move the notes inside Cubase right? Concerning drums for example.

How do you guys do it? Record midi or straight audio?

I think you all know this video of Mabanua - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkm7iq-vEYg - , i want a set working like that. MPC, Computer, all connected, so i can use VSTs, the mpc groove, etc.

By the way, he's not recording anything to the MPC right? He's recording directly to the computer sequencer?!

Thanks.

Yeah when it's off track inside the slider that can happen also.
