DIY time! busted mcd. No cf drive troubleshooting

Hey Guys. I just brought a broken 2000xl blue MCD and I might need some advice.

From the decription and pics I thought it would only need a new cf drive and 3 new buttons all (MIA). But.. it also needs a new NV slider, feet, screws and maybe some other work. It's lost all the screws that hold the base, sides and front panels on ( someone had it duct tapped shut at some stage) Most of that shlt is no prob though.

So I thought I would start by putting in the cf drive from my existing 2000xl grey model and putting it all together and powering up to see what is.

So she fires up ok, screen works, but then none of the buttons do anything at all, I mean nothing. Have had a play with the connections but nothing obvious.

Just wondering if anyone had any advice and if anyone has replaced the cf reader on MCD model before ??

This could be a good come up if I can get it running, If not . I got a cheap screen on standby.

You should check all the connections. Don't assume anything. Take out all the devices (if any.) Disconnect CF reader. Try to boot. Try to single out the problem.

Yeah I was up till 3 tryna figure this thing out. I spose I could try swapping pieces from my o.g :/
