Def good for the price. I got one of these when they first came out. One thing to keep in mind is that since it is cheap, it is made cheap. Don't expect the velocity to stay very accurate with such light/cheap keys. If I keep hitting a key with the same force, the velocity goes all over the place and is hard to get it to do exactly what you want. You can always fix that later though step edit. Knobs are also cheap; I find that if I have knobs not on 0 or 127 they will change without me even touching the darn thing. This means if I have the OX8 routed to a synth and I just brought up a patch that has filter cutoff set to 127, and my knob 1 is routed to this and happens to be at 24... it might drift to 25 which will make the synth go from 127 straight to 25 which is bad if you are playing live or trying to record. So overall a good budget buy for production, just not something to rely on over the years.
On a side note, I rarely use it to control much on the MPC, more so to control other synths. If you use software, you need something like this. Whats nice is you can set the knobs to certain midi parameters you use on your synth so you can record them directly in to the mpc instead of having to make the midi loop to the instrument and go through midi hell with wiring and midi echo problems.
