Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By melodicomike1 Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:02 am
Hi,
I've been working a new beat on my MPC 2000 xl, and it will be finished soon, I save all my samples, sequences and programs on 100 mega ZIP connected to my MPC.
But, now, I need to move my song from ZIP to my computer (IMac).
How can i do it with ZIP, i know it's possible with flash.
Thanks

What are you going to do with the MPC files on your iMac?

The 2000/XL is not able to save a sequenced mixdown as an audio file.

If you just want to save your beat in mp3 file format (or whatever), connect MPCs Stereo Outs to iMacs Audio Ins and record it...

in ProTools!

Not knowing too much about 1000s, but I think they can save your complete song as an audio file, while the 2000/XL can't.

Or is ProTools able to work with MPCs .pgm / .aps and .all files?

wait to you just want to record your beat from you MPC2kxl to your computer, right? this is as opposed to copying the DATA from your disk to you computer...

im guessing its the first one. what m-audio card do you have? the more info you give the more we can help you out with your problem.

I'll try to explain better, but i don't speak english very well so it's not easy!
I've finish my whole track in song mode on MPC; so i've got all my sequences in the wright order.
Now I want to put my song on my IMAC, to send it by E-mail and maybe work some last details on PRO TOOLS ( add scratches, effects...).
With my mpc 1000 i used to put the USB cable, record my song in main out mode to have the whole song in WAV and put it on my computer with the USB cable.
But i don't know how to do it on MPC 2000 XL with Zip.
I want the best sound quality.
(I've got a M-Audio fast track pro with pro tools, maybe i can just record my mpc while the song playing? Will the sound quality change? Is there another way?
Thanks for all your replys, i hope i've been more precise!

search around the forum because im pretty sure its been answered before. since the mpc2kxl doesnt have USB and im guessing you were using your 1000 with USB through midi? you're going to have to do it through audio. plug the right and left STEREO OUTS into the INs of your fast track pro. so left and right out from you MPC to 1 and 2 on your interface. im guessing you have that all figured out with pro tools with your interface? if you want the best quality then you'd want to record each track from MPC to pro tools so you have each track individual and give you more control over your song. that means youre doing 2 at a time into pro tools - kick, snare, hi hat, bass, synth, etc...

did you ever get your problem solved? I record into my iMac using a lexicon lambda audio interface. That means I record either the entire song or tracks into garage band via the stereo ins and outs. I am also trying to find out how I can save files and programs onto the imac without creating a new file by recording each individual sound. I want to simply transfer from mpc to computer but i have zips and a cf reader.
