Hey im a new mpc user but cannot find this quesiton answered anywhere... padbank a tunes my samples low, padbank b plays its samples at a normal pitch, padbank c is an octave higher, padbank d is very sped up and high....so is there a setting i can turn off so padbanks do not have their own pitch...? so i can just hear the samples at their normal pitch rather than all sped up or slowed down becuase of the padbank

Ooooooh.....that's a tough one. Never heard of an MPC doing that, but I bet mpc3000 will have an answer....he always seems to come through with answers to the weirdest problems....my guess is that there's something weird going on with the MPC itself....have you tried reloading the OS? Also, what model MPC is it?

If you press [SHIFT] + [8], you will get the "Other" screen...
At the bottom you will see "INIT"......press INIT
It will ask you if you want to initialize all parameters. This just puts all settings back on default.
Press [DO IT].

That might solve your problem. I've never heard of that one before, though.

Did you buy the machine used?
It seems that the previous owner used a program that had the pads tuned like that..
Try initialazing the parameters, it should work.

I'm thinking like Cheech,,,,, you've got a used machine & when you switch it on this program from the previous owner gets loaded. Have you tried to make a new program? If it still happens with this try the initialise thing, but if the new program is fine....ie nothing is tuned up or down on any pad.... then look at the floppy or zip or whatever you boot up from & delete any program there that isn't your own.

if its a 2000 straight- you have to load the program, so you should be straight, it should start up plain and empty. if you have a 2000xl then it cooooould be configured that way. I've never heard of the problem you are having-sounds like a cross between 16 levels ( which only gives you 16 so other pad banks should not trigger ) or note variation stuck on detune ( but thatonly affects 1 pad at a time.

make sure you're running the latest OS.

1.14 OS for the mpc2000xl and
1.72 OS for the mpc2000

both are free at www.akaipro.com
and so is free tech support ( except for the LD phone call ) ask for my man Steve during ofice hours.peace

badgerparty17.... what number MPC is it? xl or classic? Or have you sorted this out yet? Let us know because this is a very strange situation.
