I've heard this can be done. The 8 outputs for the rackmounts can be removed and mounted in an mpc2000xl. Does anyone know if this is true? Are they restaints to certain models............basically guys0the ibm202 board goes for about 2 bills. But a powerful s series sampler with the same 8 outs goes for $200-$400, understand where I'm coming from?

There was a thread about this a while back. A guy in Chile could only get hold of an 8 outs board for (I think) an S2000. Either an edge of the board needed to be cut off or a metal plate inside the MPC needed cutting, but otherwise it was exactly the same circuit & it worked fine.

However I don't know if more recent racks use a different board.

featherboy good looking out. It is the EXACT same piece. THE PART IS THE IBM208p- . I had to find out by calling AKAi US. they informed me that AKAI HAS BEEN BOUGHT OUT BY NU MARK-THE DISTRIBUTION ATLEAST. So they had me call VST in CALI. They didnt know either, so I had a friend at guitar center verify the part number. It is the same except it uses a different mounting bracket. No problem.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED? THE PART GOES FOR ABOUT 2 BILLS. A DECENT S2000,S3000, S3200 GOES FOPR ANYWHERE BETWEEN 2 AND 4 BILLS. SO BUYING THE RACKMOUNT, PULLING OUT THE 8 OUTS, AND FLIPPING IT, OR HOLD ON TO IT AND USE IT AS A HARD DISK RECDR. EITHER WAY , ITS THE BEST WAY.

AND THAT OUR PRIZED MACHINES ARE BEING HANDLES BY NU MARK.
