Tuning and pitch

I just read some previous posts on this topic and found different answers so I thought I could post again if you don't mind...

All other keyboards use the 12 semi-tones system to pitch up or down an octave. Does the MPC follow the same system?

Suppose I want to transpose a C note to a D note, then would it be +2?

PS. I am trying to pitch a bass drum kick which is not always obvious.

on an mpc, 10 steps is a semitone.

so an octave is +/-120.

To transpose +2 notes you would do +20.

ps. the 16 levels button set to tuning is a really good way to get some pitches out of one sample

But doesn't the 16 level affect only velocity?

no the 16 levels can do filter,velocity and tune

when u tune u can choose polyphony,mono (cutting off the other pad) or one shot

i used 16 levels a lot cause i didn´t have a keyboard to play with
