Connections ...

I own a MPC 2000 XL and I have the 8 Outs ... I also have a Yamaha 16CX USB track board but I have no idea how I should connect it .. I got a Snake cable with 8 plugs and I connect it to the "Line" input of the track board ... I've started to play some sequences on the mpc and tried to hear something through my phones / monitors and also through the USB plug on my computer but I didn't hear anything ... Is that normal ? When I can't hear anything I can't record I think ... Argh I have no idea how I can make this right, the manual is no help for me =/ Sry I am new to this thing & sry for my bad english Thanks for all responses

For a quick-n-dirty mix, just connect the main outputs (left and right) from the MPC into two of the line inputs of the mixer. For more flexible mixing, you'll need to run a cable from each of the eight outputs on the MPC to eight of the inputs on the mixer but there will be more to it than that - you'll have to go into the MPC mixer and assign different sounds (tracks) to the eight outs on the MPC.

I'd suggest some serious manual reading on both the MPC and the mixer. You are asking questions about a very deep topic and you'll have to do some serious homework.

OK I found out that I can assign the Outs and I've done that but it only works with 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 (Stereo) ... Can I change that too 1,2,3, ... ? Theres nothing in the manual about that

Not unless you make the sounds mono. The workaround is to pan a stereo sound hard left (1) and hard right (2).

Convert your samples to mono, and then they will be able to only come out of one output.

The 8 outs makes you love mono.

Drums sound better in mono....when a kit is mic'd up you only have one mic per piece.

Can I convert on my MPC or should I do it on the computer ... I can record my samples in Mono L or Mono R ... But then is one side not recorded or not ^^

If you record as Mono L your sound will be heard at both speakers. Same for Mono R

If you record at stereo with only the left channel in then it will be heard only from one speaker.

And you can convert them from the MPC as well

Convert em in the mpc, its good for working with short samples.
