Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So i'm sure most of you who own the MPC 2000 know or have heard about the LINES in the screen that you get after a couple years...
Has any one got it Fix/Replaced. If so how much, and where did you get the new screen from?. Also when replaced will this problem occur again, or have they fixed the BUGS in the replecment screens?

Thanks in advance...

I have the same thing happening to mine. I've had it for awhile, and just over the past year a couple of those lines have crept up. I can't find a link, but I remember someone saying that the new lcd display is like $200 bucks, but I'm not positive.

The lines satrted apearing about 3 years ago, And I was able to work with it, But now the screen is almost unreadable. I wonder if I should even replace the screen and just get an 2000XL.

good luck trying to find one. been back ordered for months according to akai and no rush to get them out or in mass productions. thats the way akai works. when they release a new product you can forget about any support for the older products.
they just shut down thier main distributer of parts and opened a new one in cali.

This is certainly not the case with Akai. I still order parts for the MPC60 and [original] MPC3000. Akai has not made these for years. Akai has certainly been a heck of a lot better than their competors (Korg, Roland) about being able to get parts for older equipment.

The US distributor had a little problem getting and stocking parts and is one of the reasons Akai fired them. I hope the new distributor is not going to be better.

Buying a new MPC would cost a lot of dough. You should seriously just call about Akai and get a straight answer on how much and how long a new screen would cost- the new features in the XL are cool, but I don't think they're worth another $1200 or whatever it costs (if the new screen is only a couple of hundred bucks.)
